The Triple Crown is a term used in horse racing to describe a horse that has won the three most important races in the sport: the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes. While any horse that wins all three races is considered a Triple Crown winner, the term is most often used to describe a horse that has won all three races in the same year. Only eleven horses in history have ever won the Triple Crown, with the most recent being American Pharoah in 2015. Winning the Triple Crown is considered one of the most difficult accomplishments in all of sports, and horse racing fans always look forward to the possibility of seeing another Triple Crown winner.
